Easter 2011....

We headed to Papa's house (Honey's dad) for our traditional Easter brunch.... This year senior son brought his girlfriend. After this picture I said, "Ummmm perhaps you might want to pretend you actually like your girlfriend over your mother."

And this...was the result....... (ignore the arrow until after the picture...)

So, now for the arrow. We are season ticket holders for the Jethawks. We are also booster club members. Booster club members traditionally sponsor ball players, this year we are sponsoring a player. (Ok NOW look at the arrow!) And that is our player, Austin Wates. Love him... His family is back in Virginia and so we invited him to brunch with our crazy bunch....

Mater and I.....

Papa holds an annual easter egg hunt (and then "cheats" for his favorites). This was Mater before the hunt....

This is the kit and kaboodle after the hunt. (Mater won.....)

Here is Mater intently hunting eggs.......

The rest of the day was spent relaxing, knitting and watching college softball.
Hope your Easter was as wonderful as mine!!!!

Random Thoughts.....

So, I know I have been absent for awhile, school about wiped me out!! I kept hoping to get into a grove and just never did. I start back up May 2nd, and I hopefully my core classes will allow for more routine blogging.

Up there we have Mater and Senior Son. He is on the varsity and graduating in May. Below is the team....
Now we have softball playing daughter, she is (was) the starting catcher, and with her is(was) her pitcher. I say was because we had a life lesson over here at Chez Max. Honey and I had been telling Shrimp about her grades, but she didn't listen and when grade check came along.....she didn't have what she needed to stay on the team. Neither did her pitcher......
So, there was alot of crying around here for a week (both Mom and daughter!!) I hope she has learned SOMETHING.... She did make me very proud, she has been attending ALL home games(because due to grades she is on restriction..) to support her team. And trust me, she has had to endure much heckling.... And she has had to explain to alot of people why she is not playing, not been an easy month for her.

Honey and I went to Spring Training (again) and had a blast!!!! (I am telling you, I have so much catching up to do and lots of pictures to show you!!!)
I hope you all have a great weekend!!!!!

More Georgia pictures......

We were in Georgia for four days and it was softball, softball, and more softball. However, I did manage to sneak away one morning to visit River walk in Columbus. Pretty, but I think I prefer the Riverwalk in San Antonio. In the picture above I am on the Georgia side and looking over my shoulder is Alabama. We had an AMAZING rib dinner in Alabama!!!Now there are Mike and Ed's in Georgia, but seriously? I live in California, jumping across state lines takes HOURS!!! I also tasted the most wonderful buttermilk pie EVER!! It was so good I got the receipe, hope to make it soon....

You wouldn't know it from these shots but, these shot were taken the morning after those horrible storms rolled through. Two tornado warnings in one night!!! Way to much for me....... But I do have a story, Coach's mom and I decided we wanted to go out for dinner friday night (the night of the storm) so we headed into Alabama and stopped at a Waffle House. As we are sitting there, Coach called to tell us about the warnings and that we should get back to the hotel. Well, Mom and I looked at each other and decided to go ahead and eat first. It really didn't look bad outside. A couple came walked in and I asked them if they had heard about the warning. They had, and so I asked them if they were worried. They said no the storms were way south and east of us. I asked them if the got worried to let us know, the man said if we saw him jump over the counter to panic... Never happened. Haha!!

I do not know the name of the lady in the above shot, but as we were walking along we stopped to look in her bucket and her husband told it was her very first catch in there. Unfortunately, their camera had died and they couldn't get a picture of it. Well, I couldn't let that happen, so I snapped the shot and got her email address and emailed it to her. Her husband said he wasn't taking her fishing again...haha!!

It was simply a stunning walk! Aren't these turtles cute?
I just love travel and wish I could do it more often. Forget traveling outside the country, we have such amazing places here, maybe not as old, but still AMAZING!!!!

The World Series Trip to Georgia....

The University of Antelope Valley is a new school (and where I attend for my AS in Paralegal studies), and they started their athletics program with softball. The Pioneers did awesome this past season playing NCSA club ball. No one starts out playing D1 ball, everyone has to earn that status. This season the Pioneers took one step closer D1 or D2, by winning their conference and earning a bid to the World Series in Georgia. It's kind of like JV  for the universities.
They fought hard but came out one game short and lost in championship game against Florida State University. (Which nobody beat all tournament - we lost to them three times). So, we took second!! For a first season program, that is not too shabby, and I am pretty proud of the girls!!!!
I went with the team as their scorekeeper. I raised $700.00 in a week to go. I kept score and stats and every night I would send a picture of the book to Honey and she would put all the stats in a digital format for the Coach and email stats off to the papers!! Love technology!!!!

Georgia was beautiful!! Even experienced my first two tornado warnings!!! A tornado touched down about 6 miles from our hotel at Fort Benning and did some minor damage, but we were all safe and sound.....

So, now I am home and on break for two weeks. I finished up the semester with a 3.8, and I am going to enjoy my time off by sewing, knitting, and crocheting!!!
