Max and ......

Isn't she the prettiest thing?? She has turned out to be such a good dog. I love her to bits!!! Can't snuggle with Honey anymore 'cause someone has to sleep in the middle of the bed, but she is so perfect (the dog) what can one do?
Of course, this is the MAN!!!! Mad Max is he not the most handsome thing around?? And talk about spoiled!!! Honey brings home ice everyday for his majesty!!!

This is my help...can you believe how wonderful they are????
He doesn't really have my head in his mouth - it just look that way.....

Dodger Blue always looks unhappy but she isn't... notice the crochet eyeball in the background? Thanks to MonsterCrochet for her pattern. I made one of these for my nephew, Jake (5yrs), and he loves it!!
Just a bit of eye candy to leave you with until the next time!!!!!

Lady Amazons - We Won!!!

Well, Saturday was a blast!!! We won - 34 -14!!! How cool is that?? I met some great people from teams from across the country!

Ok, I know I go on and on about this team, but I am a child of pre Title IX. I remember growing up and being told that as a girl what I could and could not do or play. Do you see the girls in the picture below? They do not know a world where women do not play football, professionally!!! They are not told they cannot do something!!! They have so many opportunities and possiblitlies!! They do not hear that girls are taking scholarships away from the boys who need them. Really? I am definitely profitting from the women who came before me, because I stay at home with my children - even though I am in a "nontraditional" relationship; I knit, crochet, and quilt; but that is my choice. I believe choice is so important in being happy in life.
Seeing these women take the field, not just our team but both teams; seeing the number of fans; seeing the excitement really, I had tears in my eyes. Sappy, I know.
Now, if there would just be more women coaches on the sidelines of softball and more women umpires for the games. Girls need to see them there. But I know, little steps!! But, frustrating for me. I live in the heart of "the old boys" country. At least it comes to softball. As a child I wanted to umpire, (I didn't know - but the boys got to do it and they were looking for junior umpires) and couldn't, they wouldn't let me. Fast forward many years later and I am now a Little League Certified Umpire (softball and baseball, all divisions!) with three years experience. Now, I love umpiring but the nastiness that goes with it I can leave. But the point is: I did it! I became what they said I couldn't.

I do not mean to go a rant, but as long as I am here might as well finish. I left the Roman Catholic church because of it's stance on women and am know a practicing Anglican. I love the Anglican church, the fact I have to think and understand what I believe, not just be told what I believe. I have three girls, they will not be hindered by God or anyone else. I do really believe my decision to stay at home is very much in keeping with my views on women. It all comes down to choice and being able to make them.

OK rant done!!

(#18 is a teammate from last years team, we carpool to practice and games with her.)

The other news is the Antelope Valley Fair opened Friday night!!! We were there, fundraiser for the KHS band. But of course that did not stop Honey and I from going to see Daughtry. He was great, but the sound was horrible!!!! I mean the band sounded great but that is not the reason we were there. We were there to hear Chris Daughtry sing, but of course we couldn't. I hope the rest of concerts are better.
I love fairs!! The quilts, the tablesettings, the pictures, and the FOOD!! Food on a stick, Wow!!! And the stuff one cannot buy any place else, you know the stuff you don't need but must have during August and September!!!! We'll be back Wednesday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday working hard!!! Our tent is by the dance stage, behind the food stands. Stop by, ask for Ms. Diva and let's have some lemonade and funnel cakes!!!!!

Sunday was spent with the youngest three childrens' grandmother; Aunt and Uncle shopping for school clothes and supplies!! Their father passed away four years ago, so twice a year or so we meet up and spend time restocking closets. I do enjoy seeing them, but that wasn't always the case and is a long sad story best saved for another day.

Please meet Ruby -but her name is changing cause she isn't really a Ruby- a new member of our ever growing family!!! She is two years old, and a cuddle bunny!!! She loves sleeping on the bed and giving kisses!! I cannot wait for fall/winter to show up - dog scootering here we go!!!!

Are you ready for some football?

I am ready are you?!?!

Sometimes I Worry About Me...

So yesterday while lurking around blogland, I found this really great pattern from nhknittingmama (http://nhknittinhmama.blogspot.com/). One day I WILL know how to link correctly - you know the sentence that says click here and it takes one to the page rather than what I have up there. But I digress.

So I thought that would be the perfect small knitting project for football practice!!! Yea for me!! Yea for me, unitl I got to practice and saw this:
That's correct.. I didn't write the ACTUAL directions down!!! Total senior moment!!!
Did anyone get this email??

Pretty cool!!!

Two Posts Today.... Max and Kitty Kitty

Normally I am yelling at Max to "leave it!!!" while he has Kitty Kitty in his mouth and he is running down the hallway. But, now I have proof that maybe, just maybe, Kitty Kitty has brought slobber upon herself. Kitty Kitty is only about 4 months old, so not too many brains yet.
Honey says she is so evil that is why she has no real name. Honey only says Kitty Kitty is evil because one of Kitty Kittys favorite pasttimes is biting Honeys toes while Honey is asleep. And we all know about kittens and their sharp kitty teeth and claws!!!!

A picture of Max and his favorite napping spot. with his very own fan. Last summer all I heard was how much money I was wasting because of the A/C, this year, because of Max I haven't heard a word. (Ok, not really, because Honey tries to be stern and I tell people she is stern, but she really isn't and didn't really say anything about last years A/C use. It makes a good story though.)

Kitty Kitty. What else is there to say? She does her own thing. Honey brought her home for me because she had blue eyes and was black. It turns out that she was just really young as, obviously, her eyes are now not blue. We are not having any more children (a collective whew!!!) so this is my forever baby. She goes to sleep while I hold her and rub her tummy.

The afghan she is napping on is one I made for Honey last winter.

Football and Knitting

Here is my honey! The Los Angeles Amazons have their first game of the season this weekend in New Mexico.

I am excited and nervous at the same time. I know she loves playing this game, but really it is football after all. She plays on the O-line (I know, really?! You all thought she was a running back!!!)

Here is the team, well not all of them but most of them These women are really wonderfully nice people. They look scary and I am sure on the field they are very scary. Off the field they are great!! Three of Honeys teammates from her old team play with the Amazons. We are having a blast. I say "we" because I am going to be the "Stat Girl" (and believe me - NNNOOO one has called me girl in a very long time!!) for the team. So, in a very sideline way I
am part of the team. Actually, it is the ONLY way I will ever be part of a football team. Those women are huge!! I would get hurt and let's face it, cry. And we all know there is no crying in women's professional football. I am telling you these girls are tough!! Here is what I knit, on the sidelines, while Honey and the girls were sweating up a storm at practice. My Ipod sock!!! KnitPicks yarn, but I don't remember which color. It turned out pretty good. I used Queen Kahuna's sock cast on and it worked out wonderfully!!! By the way, I have her book (Crazy Toes & Heels Socks) and it is so great!! I am casting on socks tonight, because Honey will be on her way to New Mexico, without me!!! No Honey, cast on socks!! That's my motto, well, that and No Honey - Spend Money!!!!! Not her favorite motto!!!! Joannes here I come.....

A Day at the Beach

Isn't he beautiful?

We pack the cooler, we pack the kids and load Max into the truck! I check the web to see which beaches will allow dogs. Los Angeles County doesn't allow our canine friends and family enjoy the sand and surf with us. Ventura County does. So, off to Ventura we went....

To say that Max didn't like the water is an understatement. The waves scared the heck out of him, but the beach was heaven. The birds, the sand for digging, the people who wanted to pet him and tell him he is beautiful!!! He never gets tired of saying, "Why, yes I am the dog from 8 Below!"

Just a note

Well, school has started for DS#1 and DS#2!!! Two in high school!! Holy Moley!!! DS1 is taking a heavy class load - mostly AP classes and is in the marching band. DS2 is a freshman and is trying out for football!!! Yea yea TWO football players in the house!!

It is sssssssssooooooooooo hot Max wakes us up at night just so he can sleep in some cool air. Honestly, I'm tempted to do the same myself - if the backyard wasn't sand and well, let's be honest, if I was the one he woke up to put him outside!!!

No quilting going on here - just not motivated. I did however knit up an Ipod cozy last night. Using knitpicks sock yarn and size one addi needles. (Pictures tomorrow!!) We just fixed Itunes problems and now we can load up the Ipods. Woot woot something to listen to during football practice!!!!!

Words fail me, but I read these every Sunday....

Angels vs. Red Sox

Last week we went to see the Angels lose to the Red Sox. We took boy #2 and girl #2. Since we have sooooo many kidlets we (over the summer) take a couple at a time to something special.

While the Dodgers are our fave team, we couldn't pass up the chance to hopwfully see Eric Gagne pitch!!! Ok it was only one little inning, but
woot!! woot!!! That's him on the mound in the pics. We had a great time and I even got to knit a little bit!!! Much to the distress of my peeps!!!! My own little Stitch-n-Pitch!!! HeeHee!!

Max

Isn't he handsome? We went to play football in Arizona and came home with Max. He was 4 months old and we were his at hello!!! Since then, who can remember what life was like before him! I didn't know how he would react to the heat of the high desert, but with the A/C life has been good. The cats are just now coming down from the rafters and the chihuahuas still aren't thrilled that he is here and the car and house is filled with dog hair. The good news is that I am collecting the hair and next year I should have a great Max afghan to snuggle under!!!!!

Ok here we go...

Just thought I'd start with a beautiful picture!!!!! These were the centerpieces at my cousins wedding.
So, now I've joined the blogging world!!!
