Going home....

I have been feeling very homesick and in a really funky mood. So I went home. Not to the house I live in now, but to the house where I grew up. I lived in that house from the time I was 5 years old until I got married at 22. I dream about the house. I cried when my parents sold it in 1990. I envy my classmates that still live in the area and wish with all my heart that I could afford to live there. Big, heart heavy sigh!!!!

The above is the lighthouse, Point Vincente Lighthouse. I could hear it sound it's horn on foggy nights from my house. My house is below. Well, the front door. My kids and I were standing on the front and I was taking pictures when the "new" owner opened the door. She and her husband bought the house in 1992 and she loves it as much as we (my family) did and does. She and her husband graciously invited us in to walk around. And I must tell you I shed a few tears seeing the old place! I told stories to my kids and showed them my room. After I had my fill of memories, we piled back in the car and I drove them around to my high school, we went to see the parents of my friends and went to see the Paseo del Mar slide area.

All in all, it was nice to go home.

My little DIY projects.......

What I have been up to.....

So, I waste, I mean SPEND, hours on Pinterest and I found these really cool ideas!!! Glue a rock on an empty prescription bottle, then put an extra house key (or whatever) and bury it it in the front yard!! Positively brillant!!

Next came this idea!! As I am driving around town, I look for old tires on the side of the road. When I see one, I pull over and throw it in the back of the truck!! (Yea, my kids love me! Heehee!)

Olivewood Gardens Tire Planters

Right now I have about seven tires sitting in the driveway. I bought spray paint and went to town. Ended up with this:

I cannot wait to go get the rest of my colors and finish  this project!!!

The one where I actually finished something.....

My sister-in-law asked me if I could make a Raggy Tag blanket. So, here is what I made.....

I lined the back with flannel and just tried to match the "tags" to the material. Honey brought it our niece this week. She is in Florida for Thanksgiving (yeah, let's not get into she is missing Thanksgiving with me!!! But she is seeing her brother so all is well...)

I am told that despite the look on her face, a few more blankies need to be made as this one is covered in drool!!

Thank you to our veterans!

We took Flea and college boy to Knotts Berry Farm for veterans day. Honey is a veteran, she served during Desert Storm in the Army. My dad also served in the Army, as a doctor during Vietnam.  Todsy, we went on rollercoasters, ate some fabulous chicken, and generally had a great time!

I am thankful for all of our service men and women! May God bless them and keep them safe!

My Sunday looks like this......

We have been on the go for weeks now, so it was nice to have a stay at home-don't even get dressed weekend. It was cold and rainy and perfect! I have caught up on my TV (American Horror Story anyone?), watched football, and been a cooking fool! Thanks to Pinterest, my new obession!

I cannot believe I missed the second day...........

Honey and I have been sick for a week now. So, I took yesterday off. I stayed in bed, drank tea and watched movies all day.... I feel much better today.

Shrimp playing in a tournament in San Diego last weekend. We have this weekend off and then we are in Hemet next weekend. Mater has been with his Mom all week, and we miss him. Luckily for us he comes home tomorrow! Yea! Can't wait to see him. Honey bought Cars 2 Tuesday night and we are planning a movie and popcorn night Friday night!!! He is turning into such a boy! Loves to climb, scares his Nono (me) to death!!

Tomorrow we are going to see our second taping of the Doctors.  Honey and I had so much fun the last time we went and while we were at lunch in Hollywood we saw this bit of handsomeness:

Mark Valley yummy!!!

National Blog Posting Month!!!!!!!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Halloween!! We spent the evening with Honey's parents and brother. The kids went trick or treating and then we all got to eat Grandmas special graveyard dessert! Mater was Spiderman, Wonka was "I have no idea what he was," Shrimp was a hobo (the story behind her costume is: we just spent the weekend in Las Vegas for travel softball and Saturday night we were on Fremont street so that Mater could experience the Fremont Experience! Anyway, Miss Shrimp became enamored of one of the street performers. Well, she kept calling him a hobo not street performer and since he is now her future husband......), and Flea was a troll.

Mater got to "carve" his first pumpkin this year. Well, he wouldn't actually stick his hand into the pumpkin, but he did sit there while Nona and Aunt Shrimp carved!!!

It is that time of year again! 30 posts in 30 days!! I think I can do it! I did it last year!

I give you the Troll, Spiderman, Hobo, and G-d only knows!!!!

Wordless Wednesday........Hiking the San Andreas Fault...

Monday Honey had the day off and I played hooky from school and we took a hike into the San Andreas Fault. It was a beautiful day and a very nice (maybe a little hilly at times) hike. Max had a great time meeting other hikers and their dogs, chasing the occasional squirrel, and eating one teeny tiny little lizard!!! We went to a place called the Devil's Chair.

The shot below is of the actual fault-line. 85 million years of earth movement has created beautiful swirling rock formations! I, of course, took in the beauty and immediately started worrying about the "Big One!" The valley in the background? Yea, I call that home!!
